Acupuncture is a holistic approach to healing and management of disease, as well as the maintenance of health, which has been practiced in China and other Far Eastern countries for thousands of years. Although often described as a means of pain relief, it is in fact used to treat people with a wide range of illnesses. The skill of an acupuncturist lies in the ability to make a traditional diagnosis from what is often a complex pattern of disharmony. The focus is on improving overall well being, rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms.

Initial consultation one hour using the four traditional examination techniques of looking, listening, questioning and palpation. A detailed case history of your current and past health concerns are taken to guide the clinician to an understanding of your individual healthcare needs.

  • From this initial session, we work with you to develop a treatment plan which will meet your individual healthcare needs.
  • Follow-up sessions are up to 1 hour.
  • Treatment techniques may include acupuncture, moxa (herbal heat treatment), tuina (Chinese medical massage), and cupping (external skin therapy).
  • You may also be advised to make small lifestyle adjustments designed to support the healing process.
